Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis (31 August, 2025) – The Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, engaged in bilateral discussions with His Excellency Edward Ling-wen Tao, the new Resident Ambassador of The Republic of China (Taiwan), on Monday, 28th July, 2025.

The Foreign Minister welcomed His Excellency Tao and expressed his immense appreciation for the Republic of China’s (Taiwan) constant support to the development of Saint Kitts and Nevis both structurally and in the area of human resource. He stated that Taiwan has been a long-standing, excellent partner to Saint Kitts and Nevis and continues to provide assistance and training in the areas of agriculture, diplomacy, security, education, health, and renewable energy.

Ambassador Tao relayed his delight in being the new Ambassador, as he looks forward to working with the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis to deepen and diversify the level of cooperation. He conveyed his gratitude for Saint Kitts and Nevis’ support to Taiwan in highlighting the need for their inclusion in International Fora such as the World Health Organization. His Excellency expressed his desire to work closely with the Foreign Minister to lend aid as it relates to the Government’s priority areas.

Both diplomats are keen on strengthening the relationship between the two countries, with the hope that it would yield increased cooperation that would serve beneficial to all citizens.
