
The Charles E. Mills Secondary School (CEMSS) once again demonstrated its athletic ability at the 2025 Penn Relays in Philadelphia, proudly representing St. Kitts and Nevis. This marks the school’s third appearance at the prestigious event, reflecting on its growing legacy in international athletics.
CEMSS teams showcased remarkable spirit and tenacity, achieving top finishes across various events, including:
- High School Boys’ 4x100m Relay Heats
- High School Boys’ 4x400m Relay
- High School Boys’ Javelin Throw Championship – Jaheem Clarke secured 9th place with a throw of 182 feet 3 inches.
- High School Girls’ 4x100m Relay Heats
- High School Girls’ 4x400m Relay
- High School Girls’ 4x100m International Final
Ms. Niketa Isles, CEMSS Team Manager extended gratitude to the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Samal Duggins, Minister of Sports, and the St. Kitts and Nevis diaspora for their invaluable support and contributions that enabled our athletes to perform at their best.
Special appreciation was also extended to Ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United States, Her Excellency Jacinth Henry-Martin; the staff of the Embassy; Mr. Kressell Daniel, Deputy Consul General; staff at the Consulate; and H.E. Worrel Nero Ambassador-at-Large and Honorary Consul General of St. Kitts and Nevis in Philadelphia for their tremendous encouragement and support throughout the events.
Mr. Kelvis Alford, Acting Principal of the CEMSS, stated, “This victory is not ours alone; it is for the entire nation of St. Kitts and Nevis. Together, we have shown that united support for our youth leads to greatness.”
Looking Ahead: Sponsorship Drive for 2026 Penn Relays
As the Federation celebrates this achievement, CEMSS is already preparing for the 2026 Penn Relays and launching a sponsorship drive. Ms. Kylla Herbert, President of the South Jersey Caribbean Cultural Organization thanked this year’s dedicated sponsors and invite potential sponsors to join this initiative in expanding opportunities for more students from the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis to showcase their talent on an international stage.
