Marriage Attestation:

In order to collect such document; it is necessary that you forward the following information to facilitate the Registrar General’s Office to draft a letter stating the aforementioned.  It’s also a requirement that the letter be legalized (apostilled), to be valid globally.

If you are a Naturalized by birth the information requested are:

  • Your Name
  • Your date of Birth and
  • Your mother’s Name

However, if you are not a naturalized citizen by birth its requested to submit a birth certificate.  This information will be submitted to email:  registryskn@gov.kn.

Furthermore, it’s also necessary to be familiar with an individual located in St. Kitts who will be able to assist in collecting the letter to be transmitted.

Requirements for obtaining a Marriage Certificate

In order to acquire a copy of a marriage certificate, please send a notarized letter to:

This letter should state:

Names (of persons who were married)

Date of Marriage

The letter should specify the name of the person who has been assigned to collect the marriage certificate. The cost of the marriage certificate is EC$3.00 in stamps. The person collecting should take a copy of their ID when going to collect the marriage certificate in addition to the $3.00 stamp(s).

If the person making the request is unable to collect locally, they should send an International Bank Draft to the value of US$5.00 along with a notarized letter with the information mentioned above, that is, name of married persons, date of marriage and a return address. The marriage certificate will be sent via post.

Requirements to obtain a Certificate of a Criminal Record

In order to obtain a Certificate of Criminal Record, it would be necessary for to forward an email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting the Certificate of Criminal Record with an apostille. On acknowledgement of receipt o the email the individual will then send the following:

  1. A Certified Letter addressed to the Commissioner of Police requesting Police Certificate
  2. Two (2) certified copies of government-issued IDs from the country of citizenship
  3. A Certified copy of the Certificate of Registration (COR)
  4. Certified copies of the Passport Data Page
  5. A Certified copy of  the Birth Certificate
  6. International Bank Draft – $25 USD which includes the cost of the Police certificate as well as the apostille (Please conceal discreetly in the courier envelope)
  7. A self-addressed airway bill (DHL or FedEx) and

Once the Certificate of Criminal Record with apostille is completed, it will be returned to the person of interest via the courier of the self-addressed airway bill that he transmitted.

If the person making the request is unable to have someone locally collect on their behalf, then they would need to send an International Bank Draft to the value of US$5.00 along with the notarized letter with the information mentioned above, that is, the applicant’s name, the name and date of birth of the person for whom the birth certificate is being requested and the applicant’s return address. The birth certificate will be mailed to the applicant.

NB: If the person for whom the birth certificate is being requested is still living, that person has to make the request themselves. A request cannot be made by another person for someone who is alive.
